Sindh Assembly Approves Amended Pension Gratuity Bill

KARACHI – The Sindh Assembly approved the amended pension and gratuity bill for provincial government employees.

The bill was presented during the assembly session chaired by Deputy Speaker Naveed Anthony, where opposition and government members exchanged heated words.

Key points:

Employees recruited after July 1, 2024, will receive pension and gratuity benefits under the new law.

Government employees can retire after 20 years of service.

The new law will reduce government financial expenditures.

Employees recruited before July 1, 2024, will receive pension benefits under existing rules.

In case of an employee’s death, the family will receive pension benefits under the new law.

The assembly also approved the Sindh Institute of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (amendment) bill, transferring administrative control from the Health Department to the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities.

During the session, Sindh Interior Minister Ziaul Hassan Lanjar stated that the government will not tolerate any illegal activities, especially those violating the sanctity of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
