WASHINGTON – Melania Trump’s wardrobe choice landed her husband in hot waters when she wore an insensitive jacket while boarding an Air Force plane to visit migrant children at the Texas-Mexico border on Thursday.
The US first lady wore a $39 Zara jacket that bore one liner: I really don’t care, do u?.
The choice might be seen as an accident, however, the political analysts and Twitterati did not overlook the wardrobe and directed criticism towards the lady as it was an odd choice for a visit to a Texas detention center housing immigrant children.
The influential lady arrived at Andrews Air Force base in Maryland wearing the jacket but changed the attire as the plane landed in McAllen, Texas.

In a brazen move, however, she changed back into the jacket upon landing back in Maryland later in the afternoon, overlooking the swift criticism and the fact that the temperature was 81 degrees.
Interestingly, when she landed back, the photographers were also given full view of the offending Olive-Green colour accessory.
Sensing the heat, Trump’s spokesperson Stephanie Grisham tried to deflect the media attention and said there was no hidden message behind the jacket using SheCares hashtag in the tweet.

The social media ire was also well noticed by POTUS who referred the ‘don’t care’ phrase to media, which, in his opinion was ‘Fake News Media’.

‘Melania has learned how dishonest they are, and she truly no longer cares!,’ said the US president as he took to his traditional mode of communication – Twitter.
Melania’s tour comes on the heels of Trump’s reversal of policy on the immigrants, asking the authorities to reunite the distressed children with their families.
Her tour was eclipsed by the choice of her outfit, though she spent some time with the children at the detention centre, a few pictures of which were released on social media.

Melania Trump visited the Upbring New Hope Children’s Shelter, a federally-funded facility that houses about 55 children from Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador, ages five to 17.
“I’m glad I’m here and I’m looking forward to seeing the children,” Melania said at a roundtable discussion with social workers and government officials.
“I would also like to ask you how I can help these children to reunite with their families as quickly as possible.”
This is not the first time Melania is facing the ire of social media over her couture choice. Earlier, she wore stiletto heels while traveling to Texas to survey the damage from Hurricane Harvey.
