The Mossad, an Israel’s spy agency, is behind the assassination of Palestinian man, who was in his 20s, in southern Sweden, reported haaretz.com quoting Palestinian sources as saying.
Deceased Mohammed Tahsin al-Bazam had been living in Sweden along with his family for last few years and was shot dead at his home on Saturday in the small town of Limmared. Earlier, he formally resided in Gaza Strip.
According to Swedish police statement issued on Sunday, “Reports said several people wearing masks entered the apartment through a balcony and shot the man inside. They disappeared after the shooting as quickly as they arrived”.
However, the man’s father named Tahsin al-Bazam suspects a domestic dispute with a Jewish neighbor caused of the killing.
Explaining the incident during an interview with a Palestinian agency, he said that two unknown men killed his son by shooting him at close range at home’s door.
He claimed that his son used to complain to jewish neighbour, who held parties that involved alcohol and drugs, for noise, adding he sees this as reason behind the murder.
“It could be that an argument developed that ended in murder, or that it was a murder in a racist context because they identified him as a Palestinian Arab and a Muslim,” alleged the father.
He added that his son, who worked in marketing, had no links with political activities.
On the other hand, the Fatah movement in the Gaza Strip in a statement, which was attributed by various Palestinian news websites, has alleged the Israeli spy agency of killing the man in Sweden.
Some websites claimed that Bazam was a released prisoner, while the Palestinian Prisoners’ Club told Haaretz they are not familiar with Bazam’s name, adding that the claim regarding released prisoner need to be verified.
According to Haartez.com, Prisoners Affairs Authority head Issa Qaraqe said that the killing was made in a criminal context as per initial reports, besides denying reports regarding released prisoner.
Palestinian Foreign Ministry sources said its embassy in Sweden is following the police investigation and awaiting further information in this regard.
