Malala urges President World Bank to meet goals for girl s education

WASHINGTON DC (Web Desk) – Malala and her father Ziauddin met the President of the World Bank Group, Dr. Jim Yong Kim, and senior staff to discuss the importance of education and how best to ensure that every girl is able to receive a quality and free 12-year education by 2030.

At the meeting, Malala welcomed the World Bank’s commitment to support young people – girls in particular – to get the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in life, reported The Malala Fund.

Malala and Dr. Kim also discussed ways in which they hope to work together to help Pakistan provide better education opportunities for all girls and boys.

Malala told President of the World Bank Group, “It is very important that we raise our voices to speak out for girls deprived of a secondary education. To help all girls and boys achieve their full potential, we should make sure the Sustainable Development Goals include a commitment to fund a 12-year quality and free education for all children, especially girls.”

Malala’s top priority this year has been to ensure that no girl should have to drop out of school early and forgo her dreams because of a lack of funding or commitment by our governments.
