LAHORE — A Fly Jinnah plane experienced a fire incident during its landing at Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport on Monday, while all passengers were safely evacuated without any reported injuries.
Flight number 9P846, which was travelling from a port city to the provincial capital, encountered difficulties. An inferno and smoke were reported in the cargo section of the passenger jet. Emergency services were swiftly deployed to the scene, ensuring the rapid evacuation of all passengers and crew members onboard.
Airport authorities promptly closed the runway to facilitate firefighting efforts and ensure the safety of all involved. Passengers also captured the plane and evacuated.
Passengers were provided support and assistance as they awaited further updates.
After the safe evacuation of all passengers, a Fly Jinnah spokesperson confirmed that flight 9P846, which was flying from Karachi to Lahore on September 23, 2024, experienced a smoke alarm indication in the cargo compartment upon landing in Lahore.
In a statement, he said, “By standard safety protocols, the flight crew followed the standard procedures, notified the airport and the aircraft with all crew and passengers onboard landed safely in Lahore. Our technical team is conducting a thorough inspection to identify the cause of the alarm.”
The private airline regrets the inconvenience, saying the safety of passengers and crew is of paramount importance.
