ISLAMABAD – Pakistan’s President Mamnoon Hussain has left behind heads of several developed nations in terms of salary and perks.
The federal cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, on Tuesday, approved an unprecedented summary, massively increasing the salary of the president by Rs766,550 to Rs846,550, a rupee higher than the salary of the Chief Justice of Pakistan.
The newly-fixed salary would mean that the president will be paid more than any public functionary of the government of Pakistan, the summary reveals. Earlier, the salary of the president was fixed at Rs80,000 in 2004.
According to statistics maintained by a website paycheck.pk, the president also gets a higher salary than Russian, Chinese and other countries’ presidents.
It claimed that Mamnoon receives Rs1,600,000 per month in the name of salary and perks, however, his annual income stands at Rs19,200,000, surpassing the annual salary of Chinese President Xi Jinping that is Rs2,165,514.
Russian President Vladimir Putin could not beat Pakistan’s head of the state as he receives Rs15,979,547 in a year.
Similarly, Haseena Wajid, President of Bangladesh, gets only Rs150,000 per month.
However, Turkey President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and US President Donald Trump are among the heads of the states who receive higher salaries than Mamnoon Hussain.
