US President Joe Biden has stated that there is an urgent need for a ceasefire agreement in Gaza, emphasizing that the spread of war in the Middle East is not in anyone’s favor.
Delivering his final address as President to the United Nations General Assembly, Biden remarked that every nation has the right to ensure it is not attacked again, and the world can never overlook the horrific events of October 7.
He asserted that the solution to the Palestinian issue lies in a two-state solution, emphasizing that Palestinians should have the right to live in their own state. He reiterated the immediate need for a ceasefire in Gaza, noting that the situation is dire but a diplomatic resolution is still possible.
Biden also stated that the spread of war in the Middle East benefits no one, and thousands of civilians and the families of Israeli prisoners in Gaza are enduring severe hardships.
In his address, the US President further stated that the United States supports the expansion of the Security Council and that the UN must return to its fundamental mission of establishing peace in the world.
Biden also highlighted the transformative impact of artificial intelligence on our lives, stressing the need to use this technology responsibly and to make it safe. He noted that artificial intelligence is being used for both good and bad purposes, and there is a need to establish global regulations for it.
