KASUR – Two Punjab Highways Patrol officials were martyred when some unidentified assailants opened fire on them in Raja Jang area of Kasur on Friday.
According to reports, Punjab Highway Patrol officials tried to stop two motorcyclists at a checkpost near Malkan Wali Haveli but the armed men did not stop and opened fire leaving the officers critically wounded.
The injured ASI Sajad Haider and Farmaish Ali were rushed to Sharif City Hospital where they succumbed to their wounds. The bodies of the martyred Punjab Highways Patrol officials were shifted to District Headquarters Hospital Kasur for autopsy.
Meanwhile, police have launched investigations into the incident and a search for assailants is underway.
