ISLAMABAD – Pakistan and Iran on Wednesday agreed to iron out all kinks facing bilateral relations, after National Security Adviser Lt. Gen. Nasir Khan Janjua said his country sought to work with Iran on counter-terrorism.
Janjua is currently in Iran on a 3-day visit to discuss bilateral interests, including cross-border security and the fight against terrorism and extremism.
Janjua held multiple meetings with Iran’s high-ups. He also had two rounds of negotiations with Ali Shamkhani, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) and discussed matters pertaining to Indian spy Kulbhushan Yadav, among others issues.
Tehran assured Islamabad its complete cooperation over the issue of Indian secret service agent, Yadav, who was picked up by Pakistani security forces over two months ago.
Shamkhani asserted that his country highly values Pakistan’s friendship, adding the regional stability and economic growth is at stake at the hands of terrorists.
