Why entrepreneurship is better than a job?
Choosing the right career path can be the most challenging experience we can go through in our lives in one way or the other since our whole life is based on the choices that we make. We all endeavour to have a career choice that would not only make us successful but also help us to grow in every aspect of our life.

Over the recent years, a new debate has been stirred about the topic that was not familiar to the world a decade ago - What is better, entrepreneurship or a traditional 9-5 job?

All thanks to the trend of start-ups, e-commerce, online shopping & training workshops, the domain of entrepreneurship has gained much popularity and now has been introduced as a subject in the leading colleges and universities of Pakistan.

Certainly! It's contributing positively towards the prosperity of the country but what about the conventional private/government jobs? What are the prospects of being a successful entrepreneur and what are the perks that one enjoys being one which a regular job-doer cannot?

One of the key factors that would encourage people to start their own venture is the freedom of doing or handling things the way they have visualised. It's a huge liberty to actually being so resourceful that you end up owning a business of your own. It's like your brainchild that you would always love. No early risings, no late sittings in office, no listening to bosses and no stagnant lifestyle, you are the in charge of your own life, your own timings and your own finances.

Isn't the idea of being the boss so fascinating? Well, being an entrepreneur; one is able to enjoy all these perks.

Every penny that an entrepreneur will make is the outcome of his/her own hard work. This feeling is not comparable to the conventional annual bonuses or promotions one gets in the office job. Furthermore, here's the catch! There is no boss if you are an entrepreneur. No reporting to the higher ups, no pressure of meeting unrealistic deadlines and no harassment by the bosses you don't get along well with. You can work wherever you want, when you want and how you want it.

Being employed means that you are entitled to sign a contract between you and your company where you will render your expertise to each and every task which will be assigned to you. This results in less freedom over your routine and your finances as these things are decided by your employer. On the other hand; being an entrepreneur gives you more control over your life. Moreover, being self-employed means that everyday can be a new day where you can execute your ideas that would lead to making your venture more successful without having to follow or take orders from anyone. You can choose everything by yourself from your ideas to your location, from your resources to your clients.

Everything comes with its risk factors and the same goes for being self-employed as well. It all requires a proper planning of the execution of your ideas so that you may not end up in crisis. It's never easy starting a new career and not everybody will help you on your way. You have to work on your ideas by gaining the complete knowledge about it, approaching the right resources and hitting the right clientele in order for your business to flourish. There is a lot of hard work involved ranging from personal sacrifices to professional losses. So, one should weigh down all the aspects before starting off a new business because in entrepreneurship; the possibilities are endless.

So, you might be wondering what's better? Being employed or self-employed? While the idea of being the boss of your business is quite tempting; one should keep in mind the risk factors which are tagged along with it. It might not give you the overnight success or it might change your life. So, if you can't make it without a pay check or if you are looking for quick rewards; then entrepreneurship is just not your cup of tea since entrepreneurs might not make any money for days, months or even years till they hit the jackpot one fine morning and the rest is history then.

Entrepreneurship is all about creating ideas and channeling them in the right direction. It's all about thinking outside the box and creating something new. Whether it is an online shopping business, a restaurant, a consultancy firm, a services provider or anything unique; it requires a tenure of strenuous hard work and brainstorming. However, a well-executed idea can make you 'Zuckerberg' of your business for the rest of your life if you know what I mean.

So, next time if you find yourself hanging between the dilemma of choosing a career path between the conventional job or a business that you always wanted to start; just remember that risks are there but there are great compensations for those who are ready to take on the world as per their desires.
