ISLAMABAD – The representative of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in the six-member Joint Investigation Team that investigated offshore assets of Sharif family would now file references against Sharif family in the backdrop of Panama case judgment.
Irfan Naeem Mangi, who aided the inquiry panel on behalf of country’s graft buster, that winded up a rigorous probe against Sharif family in the light of April 20th order, has now been tasked to take up the observation of the top court and file multiple references against members of Sharif family including Nawaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz, Hussain Nawaz and others.
According to Dunya News, the decision to assign Mangi with filing the pivotal references was made during a meeting of NAB officials chaired by Qamar Zaman Chaudhry who clarified on Sunday that a zero tolerance policy would be adopted against corruption.
Another source close to Zaman expressed that the apex court’s decision will be fully implemented by the anti-graft body.
The deputy chairperson of the bureau, deputy prosecutor general, director general operations and director general of NAB Rawalpindi attended the meeting.
In its landmark verdict last Friday, NAB was given six weeks, from the date of the court’s order, to file the reference in an accountability court. It was also ordered to wind up the probe in a span of six months after filing the references.

As per the apex court’s judgement, among other references, the country’s graft-buster has been directed to prepare a report on the businesses of the Sharif family, including Azizia Steel Mills’, Hill Metals Establishment and other assets.
The bureau has also been directed to include in its investigation all other persons, including the nephew of Dar’s wife Musa Ghani, son of a retired officer from London Stock Exchange Kashif Masood Qazi, Nawaz’s friend Javed Kiyani and National Bank of Pakistan President Saeed Ahmed. These persons have been asked to be involved, if need be, for any direct or indirect connection they may have with the actions of Nawaz, Hussain, Hassan, Maryam and Ishaq Dar that led to the acquisition of assets and funds beyond their known sources of income.

Moreover, NAB has been tasked to file supplementary references if and when any other asset, which is not prima facie reasonably accounted for, is discovered.
