ISLAMABAD – Following the election results that have brought Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in the lead to form a government, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has congratulated the incoming premier Imran Khan on his victory.
According to state TV, the Turkish head of state had phoned in the would-be prime minister to offer his felicitations as Khan preps up to get hold of the office
Furthermore, Erdogan offered his well wishes to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and expressed hope for the future government.
It was further revealed that the two leaders acknowledged new and improved relations between their countries, now that Pakistan is getting ready to establish a new government.
The president went on to convey great hospitality and expressed gratitude for the laudatory exchange of words.
Earlier on Monday, India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi had telephoned Imran Khan, congratulating him over his party’s victory in the general elections and conveying best wishes for Pakistan.
“We are ready to enter a new era of relations with Pakistan,” Modi was quoted as saying by the PTI press release.
According to the statement, Modi said both the countries should adopt a joint strategy for progress in bilateral ties.

Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan H.E Yao Jing and deputy Chief Lijian Zhao on Monday also called on Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan and congratulated him on his election victory.
Chinese Ambassador Yao highly appreciated Imran Khan’s positive remarks on China-Pakistan relations, adding that China is willing to work together with the new government to push China-Pakistan relations to a new level.
On Sunday, Afghan president Ashraf Ghani invited PTI chief and waiting prime minister Imran Khan to visit Kabul.
The president Ghani offered his invitation via his twitter account also congratulating cricketer turned politician for winning elections 2018.
