ISLAMABAD – Pakistan has expressed grief and sorrow over the loss of precious lives and injuries to several others during an emergency landing by a Russian airliner yesterday.
In a statement, Foreign Office Spokesperson Dr Muhammad Faisal said the people and the government of Pakistan convey their heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and pray for the speedy recovery of the injured.

He said we stand by the people of Russia in their hour of grief.
As many as 41 people were killed after an aircraft made an emergency landing as engine caught fire and burst into flames at airport in Moscow on Sunday.

Head of Russia’s ministry of health said, two children and a flight attendant were among the dead while, six patients are in hospital.
One witness said it was a miracle anyone escaped the jet, which was carrying 78 passengers and five crew.
