LAHORE- Veteran actor Firdous Jamal has been in the headlines for making misogynistic remarks about Mahira Khan. He labeled the Bin Roye actress as a “mediocre model” and also suggested that Mahira should no longer play lead roles.
Jamal’s crude remarks did not go down well with the entertainment industry and celebrities came forward expressing their disappointment in the veteran for pulling down Mahira Khan like that.

Now, Jamal’s son Hamza Firdous took to Twitter to respond to what he felt was unnecessary hate against his father.
Hamza Firdous defended his father and said there was no “personal grudge” behind his comments against Mahira Khan; “#FirdousJamal has given 45 years of sweat and blood to this industry. And that too without social media and only pure hard work…This person doesn’t need to hold grudges!”

He went on to say that labeling his father chauvinistic would be unfair, considering he praised other actresses in the same interview,” And also we should not shove everything under the rug of chauvinism and misogyny. If he were a chauvinist by any standard, he wouldn’t have praised #Saniasaeed, #SabaQamar, and #mehwishhayat in the same show.”

The actor concluded saying that he admires Mahira’s work and supports her upcoming film ‘Superstar’, “Like I said, I’m her fan and I’m certain that her stardom together with the efforts of every1 involved will make #superstar a #superhit and at the minimum, the film will score 200cr at the box-office.
