But he continued his innings in the HT Bhandari Cup inter-school tournament and reached the 1,000-run mark.

Mumbai school cricket is highly competitive and has produced cricketers like legendary batsman Sachin Tendulkar and current Indian opener Rohit Sharma.

“When I started I never thought about breaking the record. The focus was never that. I just played my natural game, which is to attack from the word go,” Dhanawade told the Hindustan Times.

It might not have come against one of the most fearsome bowling attacks, but Dhanawade has sent shockwaves around the cricket fraternity.

Dhanawade was unbeaten on 1009* when his team finally declared on 1465.

The child prodigy faced 323 balls in his innings. The youngster batted for 395 minutes.

Dhanawade’s knock came at a staggering strike rate of 312.38.

Sachin Tendulkar on Tuesday congratulated Pranav Dhanawade for becoming the first batsman in the history of the game to score 1000 runs in an innings.

The Litttle Master took to social micro-blogging site Twitter to congratulate the 15-year-old.

Dhanawade, son of an auto-rickshaw driver, achieved this feat against Arya Gurukul School in the HT Bhandari Cup inter-school tournament organised by the Mumbai Cricket Association.
