75 die as swine flu outbreak in India

HYDERABAD (Web Desk) – The number of deaths in Telangana due to swine flu rose to 75 with one more person succumbing to the disease on Friday, NDTV reported.

Thirty-two fresh cases of the virus have been reported, according to a bulletin issued by the state government in Hyderabad.

“From January 1 till March 19, 6,717 samples were tested, of which 2,140 found to be positive. The number of deaths because of swine flu and other complications stood at 75 as on date,” it said.

The number of deaths was 74 according to the bulletin issued on Thursday.

The bulletin said 32 samples out of the 92 sent for analysis yesterday tested positive for the H1N1 virus.

The government has advised citizens to take precautions such as reporting to hospitals on appearance of early symptoms of the disease like high fever, sneezing, cough and body pain.

It added that sufficient stock of medicines and testing kits are available at hospitals in the state.
