LONDON: A 41-year-old man has been arrested in north London on suspicion of inciting racial hatred as part of an investigation into extreme right wing, Islamophobic and anti-Semitic posts on social media.
Scotland Yard said the man was arrested at approximately 6.30 am on Wednesday as part of a pre-planned operation by officers from the crime disruption unit and their colleagues from the territorial support group.
A Metropolitan police spokesman said: “Detectives executed search warrants at two addresses, both in north London, as part of this investigation, which relates to social media postings of an extreme rightwing, Islamophobic and antisemitic nature.”
“Searches at one of the addresses are ongoing. A number of digital items have been seized at one of the properties,” he added.
