SEOUL (Staff Report) – Pakistani boxer Muhammad Waseem on Sunday defeated Filipino boxer Jether Oliva to claim World Boxing Council (WBC) Silver flyweight title in Seoul.
According to details, the fight was stretched to 12 rounds and Waseem was declared as winner by all the judges unanimously. As a result, the Pakistani boxer jumped to number four in his respective weight category International Professional Boxing Ranking.
The 28-year-old boxer hails from Quetta and is Pakistan’s only professional boxer to win the title.
Following the victory, Balochistan Sports Minister announced a Rs0.5 million prize for Muhammad Waseem, while President Mamnoon Hussain also congratulated him.
Muhammad Waseem has so far participated in four fights and remained winner in all.
He secured knockout wins in all first three professional bouts and also had an impressive amateur record with 2014 Commonwealth Games silver medal and 2010 World Combat Games gold medal to his name.
