BEIJING – China has set up a new logistics support force as part of its efforts to reform and modernize the world’s largest armed forces.
At a special ceremony held for this purpose, Chinese President Xi Jinping conferred flags to joint logistics units as the Central Military Commission (CMC) established a joint logistics support force.
Addressing the ceremony in Beijing, President Xi, also chairman of new force CMC, said the move “is a strategic decision to comprehensively deepen national defense.
He also urged the new force to carry out real battle training, adding that logistics “is the main force in strategic battle support missions.”
Earlier in January this year, China had created as many as three new military units, including a missile force that controls its nuclear deterrent. The newly established joint logistics force would provide better support to military operations.
