Pakistan becomes OECD signatory

PARIS – Pakistan has formally become the signatory to the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development Multilateral Convention on Mutual Administrative Assistance in Tax Matters.

Federal Finance Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar signed the Convention in Paris on Wednesday. Secretary General of the Organization Angel Gurria was also present in the ceremony.

The Convention will facilitate international cooperation on national tax laws and provide administrative cooperation among member countries to combat tax evasion.

The Finance Minister also held a bilateral meeting with the Secretary General of OECD to discuss ways and means to further strengthen the existing ties between Pakistan and the OECD.
