KARACHI – Stand-up comedian Junaid Akram was hoodwinked into spending money on the books and found no one showing up to pick them up, causing the artist loss and disappointment.
The artist took to the Twitter and shared the episode with his fans.
“People who said they’ll come pick up the book themselves haven’t showed up in 9 days. Needless to say, I wont do this again,” Akram tweeted. “if I was offering lawn ke suits or vape, they would have been gone at the airport car park.”
“Utterly disappointed,” he added.

But God forbid if I was offering lawn ke suits or vape, they would have been gone at the airport car park. Utterly disappointed.

Sharing the details with people on Facebook, Akram said he had some extra cash and offered books within the means of his budget.
“A vice chancellor of a university messaged saying I’m wiring 50k in two days, please buy more. So I went ahead and bought 50k worth more than my said budget. To this day, that person is nowhere to be found.”
“No problem. I’ll recover that money. The idea is to get people to read. A famous cab company offered to help deliver books and they’re nowhere to be found either. And the ones who said they’ll pick it up failed to show up.”
The problem is, Akram said, people like to jump the bandwagon to look cool or seek validation but severely lack in action and that’s rather disappointing. “And quite frankly I have trust issues now. I’d rather keep my hard earned money to myself than to go around and offer it to those who won’t even value it or my time,” he added.
