Jana is an original song, written and composed by the band itself. Staying true to the genre of blues/jazz, the rich musical arrangements of the song heavily rely on the saxophone which sets a foot-tapping rhythm. The melody is uplifted further with the subtle sounds of guitars and drums, which wonderfully enhance the smooth vocals of Talha Ali Kushava. The lyrics have a tongue-in-cheek humor, weaving the story of a man fantasizing about his wife leaving him but also not wanting her to take his wealth with her. Speaking about the story behind Jana, the band’s founder Talha Ali Kushava says, “Jana is a song about the fantasy of a husband wishing his wife leaves him, but he cannot make this known of course. The song ends with him requesting her to leave his credit card behind, which is a metaphor for the man’s wealth. It is of course all in good humor, as Jazz music is known for. Jana is our first release for 2017. We have some more new music coming out soon. We are quite excited about how the year is shaping up so far”. ABOUT BLUE SAX Formed in 2011, “Bluesax” Band, as the name suggests, usually follows a blues structure for their songs about social and spiritual themes. With roots in diverse educational and musical backgrounds- ranging from the highly acclaimed ‘Punjab Gharana’ of tabla playing , ‘Tafu’ musician family, hard rock and blues guitar, and saxophone playing, Bluesax decided to apply their experiences in the creation of a rich music style which would make them pioneers of a beautiful blend of jazz/blues and eastern classical music we could truly call “Desi Blues”.
