Ranbir Kapoor, who is playing Sanjay Dutt in the legend’s much-anticipated biopic says that everyone should expect nothing short of an honest portrayal of the star in the upcoming production.
While speaking to the media, Ranbir said: “With the Sanjay Dutt biopic, he’s been so honest about his life. He’s admitting to his mistakes.“
He further added, “We’re not portraying a Gandhi-like character. We’re portraying a fraud.“
Sanjay Dutt had quite a very interesting life, getting a taste of everything from the glamour of a Bollywood star, the mundanity of a family man, or the ignominy of being a former convict with quite a few runs ins with the law.
“He’s someone who is loved and disliked. He’s the most controversial, and to have the ability to tell about your life so honestly, and to make a movie out of it is very brave.“
Kapoor commented: “He’s someone who is loved and disliked. He’s the most controversial, and to have the ability to tell about your life so honestly, and to make a movie out of it is very brave.“
“If I was in his position, I don’t think I could be this honest about my life, and make myself look like a person who is not nice. If an audience can take something from that and learn something from his life, I think it’s a very positive thing.“
The biopic, still unnamed, is all set to release in 2018. It also features Manisha Koirala as Sanju Baba’s late mother Nargis Dutt, Paresh Rawal as his father Sunil Dutt, and Dia Mirza as Sanju’s current wife, Manayata Dutt.
