ISLAMABAD – Former Pakistan captain Shahid Khan Afridi said on Monday that he wished Indian players could be a part of World XI squad, touring Pakistan for three T20 matches.
“It would have been much better if Indian players had become part of the squad,” said Afridi and added that sports can help resolve quite serious issues.
In an interview to BBC Urdu, the flamboyant all-rounder expressed that ICC World XI’s visit to Pakistan was a significant step towards the revival of international cricket in the country.
The Karachi Kings player lavished praise on Pakistan Cricket Board for making efforts regarding the revitalization of international cricket in Pakistan.
“We should be grateful to the ICC that supported the cricket board. International cricket should resume in Pakistan, the absence of cricket was being greatly missed” he added.
The former skipper declared that the World XI tour would send a message of love and peace from the country to make the international community realise that Pakistani people wanted to see cricket being played in their country.

Afridi, who is in Lahore to witness the first T20, said: “It is significant moment for every Pakistan that efforts to resume international cricket are bearing fruits.”
The World XI team arrived in Lahore late Sunday for three encounters with the Pakistani team scheduled to be held on September 12, 13 and 15.
Amid a tight security, the players were transported to the hotel and the first contest would grip the nation tomorrow at 7 PM.
