Marvel’s Hulk actor Mark Ruffalo informed during a recent interview that while a stand-alone Hulk movie may never happen, Thor: Ragnarok is the start of a three-movie story arc for the favourite green Avenger. The character of Bruce Banner who turns into an angry green monster will will have a mini character arc in Avenger’s movies.
“We’ve taken the arc of a standalone Hulk movie and put it into those three movies, consciously,” Ruffalo said.
Ruffalo continued regarding the fate of Bruce Banner’s character constantly staying in his alter-ego Hulk state in Thor: Ragnarok, ” The rules don’t apply anymore. That’s what’s so confounding to Banner and frightening. That’s kind of the exciting progression of the Banner/Hulk relationship moving forward. The anger is no longer the only reason that he turns into the Hulk. So now we have this other thing going on between them that will carry out through the next two movies. This is the beginning of a three-movie arc.”
“This movie is about just breaking free of the forms and rules, and so I got to break free from what we thought Hulk was to a slightly more fleshed-out character,” Ruffalo commented on Thor: Ragnarok.
The Hulk will also make an appearance in “Avengers: Infinity War” in 2018 and its sequel, 2019’s yet-to-be-titled Avengers 4.
Thor: Ragnarok will be releasing November 3, 2017 (United States).
