NEW DELHI–President Ashraf Ghani has urged India to invest in Afghanistan’s mining sector during his one-day visit to the South Asian nation on Tuesday.
Ghani made the request while meeting with India’s Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj in New Delhi, the 1TVNews reported.
During the meeting, the sides discussed regional issues, economic, trade and transit cooperation, counter-terrorism and new US strategy on Afghanistan.
Ghani said Afghanistan has “good capacities” in the areas of mining, textile and women handcrafts, urging India to cooperate with Afghanistan using its expertise.

Swaraj said that India was seeking ties with Afghanistan to expand in different fields. She said that India aims to see sustainable peace and stability in the region, adding it is possible by joint efforts from regional countries.
Ghani arrived in India on Tuesday on official invitation for one-day visit, where he also met with India’s President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
