LAHORE – A group of Sri Lankan security experts reviewed the security arrangements being made for the third and final T20 between Pakistan and Sri Lanka on October 29 at the Gaddafi Stadium.
Pakistan Cricket Board’s security and vigilance head Colonel (retd) Muhammad Azam briefed the two-member team led by De Silve upon their arrival at the Gaddafi Stadium on Friday regarding beefed up security measures put in place for foolproof vigilance.
The security team was also given a demonstration of how the Sri Lankan team would be carried in a bullet-proof bus to the Qaddafi stadium.
A spokesman of the PCB said that the delegation was briefed on various aspects of the security of the visiting team, right from its arrival at the airport and to the hotel and from there to stadium and back.
Strict security arrangements were made during the visit of the Lankan security delegation.
Apart from Friday’s monitoring, another delegation of the ICC is also expected to visit the Stadium today (Saturday) to review the security arrangements for the third T20I scheduled to be played on Sunday.
Sri Lanka’s tour would mark the revival of full-scale international cricket in Pakistan. The visit follows the tour of World XI for three T20 matches under the Independence Cup.
Sri Lankan team was targeted in a drive-by ambush in 2009 near the Liberty Square of Punjab’s provincial capital.
