BAHAWALPUR – The 13th Cholistan Desert Rally will conclude today as the final round of the event is underway in the Cholistan Desert near Bahawalpur.
One hundred and seventeen motor drivers, including three female and three foreigners, are participating in different rounds of the rally.
Following the first vehicle’s flag-off at 8am today, motor racers drove their vehicles to cover the 240km-long track, touching the historic forts of Bijnot and Jam Garh in Bahawalnagar districts.
The prize distribution ceremony will be held tonight at the historic Derawar Fort, followed by a cultural show and fireworks.
On Saturday, Pakistan’s top racing lady driver Tushna Patel won the ladies title of Cholistan Desert Jeep Rally.
Karachi-based Tushna, wife of leading driver Ronnie Patel, displayed her brilliant skills and control over the vehicle to lead the field.
She covered 90 kilometers distance in one hour and 44 minutes, while Islamabad’s Asma Siddiqui secured the second spot in 1hr 52 minutes while Momal Khan was third.
Meanwhile, the men second round of competition over 226km will be held on Sunday. According to the unofficial results of the first round of 220 km, defending champion Nadir Magsi finished first while Sahibzada Sultan Muhammad Ali was second and Babar Khan ended third.
