MITHI (APP) – Former president and Co-chairperson Pakistan Peoples Party, Asif Ali Zardari, while inaugurating the largest solar desalination plant here on Wednesday called upon Sindh government to complete the installation work of 750 reverse osmosis plants by June so that people residing in villages of desert district could get clean drinking water.
Addressing the inaugural ceremony and earlier chairing a meeting he termed it a big day of history of Tharparkar as provincial energy department has completed the largest solar desalination plant of the Asia that would not only provide 8 million liter of clean drinking water to water scarce area but would also produce one megawatt electricity that would be provided to Mithi and 100 nearby villages.
The ceremony was attended by Sindh Chief minister, Syed Qaim Ali Shah, Provincial ministers, members of national and provincial assemblies, Chief Secretary Sindh and high ups of concerned departments.
Reiterating PPP government’s commitment of providing basic amenities to citizens of far flung areas he said that Sindh government was asked to complete all on going development schemes within stipulated time, to install more tube wells for ensuring availability of water and for issuance of easy loans for promotion of live stock sector.
He also stressed upon installation of solar desalination plants at Islamkot, Nangarparkar, Diplo and Dahli towns of Tharparkar as well so that residents of those areas could get clean drinking water. Emphasizing the need of conducting a survey regarding corporate farming he suggested that assistance of local elected representatives could be sought in this regard.
