Oscar chief being investigated for sexual misconduct

LOS ANGELES: According to a report by Hollywood trade publications, John Bailey, the president of the Academy of Motion Pictures, is currently being investigated for allegations against him for sexual misconduct.

According to the Hollywood Reporter and Variety, the Academy received three sexual harassment claims against Bailey two weeks after the Oscars ceremony. And although the unidentified sources did not give any details, the Academy began its investigation.

In a statement, The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences said that it, “treats any complaints confidentially to protect all parties.

It further added, without mentioning Bailey, “The Membership Committee reviews all complaints brought against Academy members according to our Standards of Conduct process, and after completing reviews, reports to the Board of Governors. We will not comment further on such matters until the full review is completed.”

There has been no comment from the accused or a representative of the accused has denied a request for comment.

The 75 year old cinematographer and movie director was elected as president of the Academy in 2017 and it was under his leadership that Harvey Weinstein was expelled as a member.
