Pakistani-American comedian Kumail Nanjiani joins voice cast of Doctor Dolittle

LOS ANGELES – After having his film ‘The Big Sick’ nominated for the Best Original Screenplay at the 90th Academy Awards this year, Pakistani-American stand up comedian Kumail Nanjiani has now joined the star  voice cast for the upcoming movie Doctor Dolittle movie: The Voyage of Doctor Dolittle.

Hollywood superstar Robert Downey Jr. took to his twitter to announce his fellow cast members.

Along with Kumail, notable names such as Rami Malek, Octavia Spencer, Craig Robinson, John Cena, Marion Cotillard, Carmen Ejogo, and Frances de la Tour are also part of the cast.

Robert Downey Jr, Selena Gomez, Tom Holland, Emma Thompson, and Ralph Fiennes had been previously announced as voice cast. Jim Broadbent, Antonio Banderas, and Michael Sheen will be portraying live-action characters in the film.

Directed by Stephen Gaghan, the film is based on the character from the 1920s series of children’s books by Hugh Lofting, The series shows a Victorian-era physician who treat animals instead of humans because of his ability to speak with them.

 

 

The film is slated for a release of April 12, 2019.
