Pakistan cricket team s fitness tests begin at National Cricket Academy

LAHORE – The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Monday started taking fitness tests of the national team for the upcoming tour of England and Ireland at National Cricket Academy Lahore.

The fitness camp will continue till April 10, while the skill camp begins on April 11 which will culminate on April 23, with players expected to depart for the tour at the end of this month.

PCB’s selection committee has summoned 25 players including Fawad Alam and PSL stars Hussain Talat, Asif Ali, Shaheen Shah Afridi and Sahibzada Farhan.

However, leg-spinner Yasir Shah, all-rounder Imad Wasim and medium pacer Sohail Khan will not be undergoing the tests due to injuries.

The possible squad will be announced after the completion of the fitness tests. Meanwhile, sources say Chief Selector Inzamam-ul-Haq has short-listed 17 players for UK and Ireland series.

Pakistan is due to play a two-Test series against England beginning May 24 at the home of cricket before they play a solitary 5-day game against Ireland team from May 11.
