Here s how to stay active in the month of Ramadan

LAHORE- The holy month of Ramadan brings countless blessings and happiness. It is a month of seeking forgiveness and serving humanity.

As Ramadan has been accompanied by hot weather in the sub-continent since the last few years, it is a difficult task to keep a balance between fasting, dealing with scorching heat, and continuing daily activities.

As the day passes, energy levels are depleted due to lower levels of glucose in the body. You can solve this issue by consuming meals that are rich in carbohydrates.  Below are some of the food items that you can consume during Sehar time and these things in your diet will keep you energetic and fresh:

  • Bananas (Bananas are high in potassium and suppress your thirst)
  • Dates ( dates will give you a good stock of energy to be consumed slowly throughout the day)
  • Milk, yogurt (Source of calcium)
  • Avocados, mangoes, figs
  • Dried peaches
  • Boiled eggs, potatoes, peas, carrot
  • Dark chocolate, almonds, walnuts

Some people prefer milkshakes made with syrup as it is easy and quick to prepare. This should be avoided as it contains high amounts of sugar, additives, and colourants. If you really want to have it, then reduce the number to two per week. Avoid oily food as it only tends to make you lethargic.

Staying active is the key to a healthy lifestyle!
