LAHORE – Meesha Shafi is promptly ordered to reply to a Rs1 billion defamation case filed against her by Ali Zafar. A sessions court on Thursday received no reply by the singer cum actress even though she was earlier expected to respond by July 5. Additional Sessions Judge Shehzad Ahmed further on went to say that the court’s notice seeking her reply be pasted on the gate of her residence.
Meesha has been granted time till August 13 to submit a suitable reply. The previous hearing was held on June 25 in which July 5 was decided to be the date the defendant had to respond on. Due to her silence on the matter, she is given another time slot to adhere to.
Ali stated in court, “Meesha levelled false allegations of harassment against me for publicity. My name has been tainted worldwide owing to her false allegations.”
In April this year, Meesha claimed Ali sexually harassed her despite her being the established lady that she is today. Ali Zafar had sworn to take the matter to court. The suit, claiming damages of Rs1 billion, was filed under the Defamation Ordinance 2002.
Meesha’s ignorance to court is raising questions at the moment. We are currently waiting for an update.
