KARACHI (Staff Report) – Singer Komal Rizvi’s selfie with philanthropist and humanitarian Abdul Sattar Edhi in the hospital has drawn sharp criticism on social media.
Rizvi recently visited the philanthropist who is under treatment at the Institute of Urology and Transplantation (SIUT). Despite Edhi’s ill-health, the singer did not deter the singer from taking selfie with him.
In one of the photographs, Rizvi is shown smiling at the camera, while sitting next to Edhi lying on bed. She posted several pictures on her Facebook page including the ones taken with Edhi’s wife and his family.
Contrary to Rizvi’s expectations, the pictures, particularly the selfie met with harsh criticism from the people, forcing her to post a reply the next day.
Replying to the criticism the singer said, “I was like an excited teenager… I asked them if it’s ok to take pictures with them and they very kindly agreed.”
She said Edhi and his wife were happy, adding, “Edhi Sahab wanted to sit up for my pictures.. I quickly asked him to keep lying down… i didnt want to inconvenience him even one tinsy bit…while his beautiful wife was making funny jokes and talking about Sean Penn and Anupam khers visit… I took tons of pics and selfies.”
