LAHORE – The election campaign by political parties ended across the country for the general elections 2018, which will be held on Wednesday.
Political parties and their candidates had until 12 am to conclude their electoral campaigns. In this regard, heads of various political parties addressed rallies and political gatherings in different parts of the country on Monday.

Bilawal does northern Sindh marathon
Bilawal began his activities today from Larkana and visited Naudero and Rato Dero before heading on to Qambar Shahdadkot.
He also briefly visited rallies at Shikarpur, Sujawal and Jacobabad’s 15 Chowk before wrapping up a campaign that saw a late surge in the PPP’s popularity.

Over 12,570 candidates are in the run for National Assembly and four provincial assemblies.
Against the National Assembly seats, as many as 3,675 candidates are in the electoral race whereas 8,895 for the provincial legislatures.
From Sindh, 872 are contesting for the National Assembly seats and 2,382 for the provincial assembly.
For Balochistan’s National Assembly seats, there are a total of 303 candidates and 1,007 for its provincial assembly seats, including 287 general seats of National Assembly and 943 seats of the Provincial Assembly.
In Islamabad, 76 candidates are in the race for three seats of National Assembly.
According to the electoral rolls, 105.96 million voters are eligible to cast the vote.
In all, 85,307 polling stations have been set up across the country.

Over 20,000 polling stations have been declared sensitive and CCTV cameras have been installed inside and outside these polling stations.
As many as 450,000 policemen and 300,000 army troops will be deployed on the polling day.
It will be a public holiday on the polling day on Wednesday.
In Punjab, all arrangements have been finalized to hold forthcoming general elections in a fair and transparent manner.
According to the spokesperson of the election commission, Lahore office Huda Goha, over 48,000 polling stations have been set up across the province where over two lac police personnel will be deployed for security purposes.
There are 60.67 million registered voters in Punjab.
Meanwhile, the home department has imposed section 144 throughout the province till the 28th of this month.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa also, all election-related materials have been sent to the concerned districts.
A member of Provincial Election Commission Khushdil Khan said that 75,000 police personnel have been deployed at polling stations across the province.
Meanwhile, a Control Room has been established at Chief Minister Secretariat Peshawar which is working round the clock.
