SHARJAH: Pakistan women defeated Sri Lanka in the first One-day International of the three-match series by five wickets at Sharjah Cricket Stadium.
Choosing to bat in first hand after winning the toss Sri Lanka put on board 178-8 in 50 overs. Captain AC Jayangani scored 49 runs while Surangika contributed 43 runs.
Pakistani Skipper Sana Mir took the two wickets of both top scorers. Sadia Yousuf also captured two wickets.
While chasing the target Pakistan steadily moved and reached home with five wickets in hand in 48.4 overs. Marina Iqbal batted impressively and scored 69 runs. She received player of the match award. Nida Dar scored unbeaten 37.
Sri Lanka’s bowler Inoka Ranaveera took three wickets.
