Yet another year of mystic smoke covering Punjab. Smog proves to be getting worst each year in Pakistan’s second largest city which also happens to be the most polluted one, Lahore. People now have started to talk about this grave issue which requires our maximum attention as this fog can cause fatal health issues like eye infections, respiratory infection, cardiac pathologies, allergies and asthma. This hazardous fog can also cause premature deaths especially for children and aged people.
While there are quite a lot of theories talking about the cause of the fog the most solid proves to be the urbanization and industrialization of the second largest city present in Pakistan. The pollution from factories, vehicles and etc gather up in the air making low blankets of this fog when the temperature goes down and humidity rises. There are other theories to it according to which it India’s Punjab practices crop burning which effects the air conditions present in Lahore.
The source of this dangerous fog remains unclear due to the lack of technology and interest of the governments however citizens have take upon themselves to talk about this grave issue. It is ideal for children and aged citizens to stay in, people should wear masks to avoid inhalation of fog and use humidifiers at homes for better breathing space.
