I proposed someone else instead of Usman Buzdar for Punjab CMship: Jahangir Tareen

ISLAMABAD - Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader, Jahangir Tareen has claimed that he did not recommend Usman Buzdar’s name for the post of Punjab chief minister.

In an interview with a private TV channel on Monday, the politician expressed that he had recommended some other names and Imran Khan didn’t tell anyone that he was going to announce Usman Buzdar’s name.

'Imran Khan telephoned me and introduced me to Usman Buzdar a few hours before the announcement,' he said in response to the rumours that he was behind Usman Buzdar.

On a query regarding his lifetime disqualification by the supreme court, Tareen said he was disheartened after the rejection of review petition.

'I spent two weeks outside Pakistan and returned after Imran Khan said I should be here. What happened with me was unfortunate,' Tareen added.

Tareen was disqualified by the court on December 15, 2017 for being 'dishonest' under Article 62(1)(f) of the Constitution, which requires all parliamentarians to be honest and truthful and to declare their assets in the nomination papers.

Tareen approached the court to have the decision reviewed but the request was turned down last month by the apex court.
