Blast at Indian restaurant in Canada leaves 15 injured

TORONTO - At least 15 people were injured after an explosion at an Indian restaurant in the Canadian city of Mississauga on Thursday.

Peel Regional Police confirmed that two people walked into a restaurant, Bombay Bhel, and set off an improvised explosive device, adding that the suspect fled the scene.

The police also released a photo of the suspects, describing them as male, wearing sweatshirts with hoods with their faces covered.



Reports further added that emergency crew responded to calls in Mississauga at around 10.32 pm local time. The area where the blast occurred is between the Hurontario Street and Eglinton Avenue of Ontario. Mississauga is in Lake Ontario about 20 miles west of Toronto.

Peel Paramedics, a local ambulance service, said that fifteen patients have been transported to the hospital and three of the persons received critical blast injuries.

The local police have launched a manhunt to arrest the accused persons.

Meanwhile, Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj tweeted from her official handle and said, "There is a blast in Indian restaurant Bombay Bhel in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. The blast occurred months after the driver of a van plowed into pedestrians and killed 10 people in Toronto and injured 14 more.
