Hajj pilgrims move to Arafat for Wukoof-e-Arafat ritual

RIYADH – Millions of Muslims Hajj pilgrims from across the world, who had gathered in Mina for Hajj rituals on Saturday, started moving to Arafat after sunrise on Sunday morning.

The pilgrims will offer Zohar and Asar prayers together at Arafat and listen to “Hajj sermon” –the most significant Hajj ritual– at Masjid Nimra.

Afterwards, the pilgrims will stay in Arafat till sunset spending their day in prayers and repenting on their sins, to complete the Wukoof-e-Arafat ritual of Hajj.

They will travel back to Mazdalfa after the sunset and the Maghrib and Isha prayers will be offered together.

The Hujjaj will spend the whole night in Mazdalfa under the open sky and will offer Fajr prayer on Zill Hajj 10 (Monday), after which they will travel back to Mina.

Some 1.5 million Muslims from around the world, including over 100,000 Pakistanis are performing Hajj this year.

President Mamnoon Hussain, Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Sardar Muhammad Yousaf, and several other dignitaries have also arrived in Saudi Arabia to perform Hajj.

The Saudi Government has made elaborate arrangements like provision of cold drinking water and establishment of a large number of toilets and ablution centres for the pilgrims.
