NEW DELHI – Attendants of a flight was completely taken by surprises after finding an unexpected passenger when an Indian woman gave birth to a baby boy mid-flight on Jet Airways as it flew at 35,000 feet, emirates247.com reported.
The woman, whose identity has not been disclosed so far, went into premature labour on Boeing 737 flight between Damman in Saudi Arabia and Kochi in the southern Indian state of Kerala.
In a statement, the airlines said that the guest, who was 32 weeks pregnant, delivered a baby boy at 35,000 feet,” adding that a doctor on board and airline crew stepped in to held the safe delivery.
Later, the plane was diverted to Mumbai airport where the woman and her newborn were shifted to a hospital for further medical treatment.
Jet Airways also announced free travel for life on the airline for new born as it was the first baby born on one of its flights.
