MOSCOW – The Islamic State militant group urged its supporters and fighters in Russia to begin an armed struggle against President Vladmir Putin’s regime in its latest Youtube video released on Sunday, marking the first time the terror group issued a direct threat to the European power.
In the 19-minute video, which was uploaded from the account frequently used by ISIS to issue media statements, a masked man can be seen driving a car in the desert. The source of the video, however, could not be independently verified.
At one point, a man in the video yells: “Listen Putin, we will come to Russia and will kill you at your homes … Oh Brothers, carry out jihad and kill and fight them”.
The sub-titled video also showed scenes of fighters attacking armored vehicles and tents to collect arms in the desert. “Breaking into a barrack of the Rejectionist military on the international road south Akashat,” the masked man said, while explaining the footage.
Moscow and Russian President Putin have yet to react to the video.
