Four including security official martyred in Khyber Agency blast

PESHAWAR – Four people, including one security official, lost their lives in a mine blast in Medan Valley of Khyber Agency, here on Saturday.

According to sources security forces were on a routine patrolling exercise in Medan Valley when a planted mine went off that resulted in the the martyrdom of one security personnel and three civilians strolling around.

The security forces’ vehicle was also damaged in the explosion.

Rescue teams and security forces arrived at the scene shortly after reports of the bombing and launched search operation.

Mine blasts are frequent in Peshawar, Khyber and adjoining agencies. Pakistan Army had launched Operation Raddul Fasaad in February following a recent spree of terror attacks in the country.

Earlier on August 19, a security official was killed while a civilian was injured when an improvised explosive device went off at a water spring in Bajaur Agency.

Similarly, on August 9, roadside bomb blast killed two security personnel in the agency. The outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) had later claimed responsibility for the attack, Express Tribune reported.
