Sethi will not hold ICC president office

LAHORE (Web Desk) – Former Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Najam Sethi has announced that he is stepping aside from assuming the role of ICC presidency, suggesting PCB to appoint a former cricketer for the position.

Sethi, who is currently heading the governing board and a three-member executive committee of PCB, said that it is in the best interest of the game for PCB to nominate a former cricketer for the position of presidency in International Cricket Council (ICC).

“I have decided to step aside from ICC Presidency. I request PCB to nominate a great ex Test Cricketer for this position in spirit of game,” Sethi said on his Twitter account.

He further said that the revival of international cricket in Pakistan is a great joy for the nation and it is the best time to honour any legendary cricketer by nominating him as the next president of ICC.

Sethi was supposed to assume the role of ICC presidency from July 1.
