20 civilians killed in Bangladesh hostage siege: army

DHAKA – Armed militants killed 20 civilians after taking them hostage overnight at a cafe in the capital city, of which many had been hacked to death, an army spokesman said on Saturday.

“We’ve recovered 20 bodies. Most them have been brutally hacked to death with sharp weapons,” army spokesman Brigadier General Nayeem Ashfaq Chowdhury told reporters, without specifying the nationality of the victims.
