LAHORE – Aamir Mazhar has earned a name for himself in the entertainment industry through consistency and vigour since over a decade. His successful event management agency is widely known in Pakistan and also internationally with the likes of USA, London, Beirut, Bahrain, Singapore.
He deals with various clients who find his work flawless. We loved his insights into life just the same.
Q. What made you opt for PR Business, out of all things?
Aamir: I was a banker for many years as I have an MBA degree in Finance but was not happy with life and had no job description so decided to leave it and move back and follow my passion which was PR. I think when you decide to pursue your passion, success always follows.
Q. As we know PR business comes with tough competition, but Aamir Mazhar is a name to go to, how did you get here beating the competition.
Aamir: A lot of hard work, dedication and determination has gone into my work. I stay up all night thinking ideas on how to deliver my 150 percent to the client. Also, like I said if you are passionate and honest with your work, success will always follow
Q. What is the day-to-day like for a PR person? We would like to know more about you through your daily routine.
Aamir: It’s a difficult routine as one has to do a lot of meetings, follow up on emails, keep up to date with social media, make appearances at events, catch up with family. You actually have to be very social and be present. My work consumes most of my day. I generally sleep late and wake up late but I do go for walk every evening to stay healthy and nights are generally dinner out with friends.
Q. How do you balance your personal life with work? Tell us a little about your family life.
Aamir: My parents live abroad mostly and I am single so my friends have become my family. I do take time out for them when needed because family comes first.
Q. Tell us your experience about your international events. Did they ever make nervous? Do you still feel nervous about a big event sometime?
Aamir: Whenever I work internationally its always representation of Pakistan which makes me nervous and proud both at the same time. When they see our work internationally it’s always Pakistan that gets praised. I get nervous every time even if its a small event which hasn’t changed till now.
Q. What makes you say no for any event, something you do not compromise on?
Aamir: Like I mentioned before, I put my heart into my work. For me, my reputation is very important. So, if a client comes to me and he doesn’t have a good idea or suitable location, or he has something in mind that can’t be accomplished in given time frame, I’d say NO. If I don’t feel good about it, if I don’t feel confident about it, I’d say No.
Q. Who is your favorite model, male/female?
Aamir: Shahzad Noor and Amna Babar
Q. Describe Aamir Mazhar in three words.
Aamir: Three words that’d describe me are:
- Insomniac
- Achiever
- And Lucky.
Q. What role is social media playing in PR game? Describe the importance of social media in terms of your work.
Aamir: Social media plays a pivotal role in building up the brand hype. It has made PR easy as well as difficult. Now the word gets out fast – good as well as bad. People tend to follow brands, socialites, latest trends, they have more access to the material than ever. In a situation like now, where everything is in open, it’s comparatively easier to build brand hype but slightly difficult to build an image.
Q. What is your vision for Savvy PR?
Aamir: To be the best there is in the business.
Q. Any advice for people who want to follow in your footsteps?
Aamir: If you have nerves of steel and if you are dedicated then do come in this field. It is not a glamorous world but one has to be a hard worker to survive in it.
On that note, we thanked Aamir for his time.
