MURREE (Web Desk) – Murree police have arrested the prime suspect, Master Shaukat, who is believed to have burned Maria, a schoolteacher from the area, alive after she refused his son’s marriage proposal.
Maria, who succumbed to injuries in PIMS a couple of days ago, recorded a statement before the police that Master Shaukat and his four accomplices had set her on fire for not marrying his son.

The victim was brought in with 85% of her body burnt and doctors had informed Maria’s family that it would take a miracle to save her life.

This is not the first case of this kind of violence against women in recent times. In May, the gutted body of a girl was found from a vehicle in Abbottabad after she allegedly helped one of her friends elope with her lover.
