ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – A sub-committee of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) has ordered action against different officials in the Capital Development Authority (CDA), including the Board Chairman and Member Planning for violating rules and regulations in the 2008 award of a contract for a visa shuttle service.
The sub-committee directed CDA to recover the amount paid to the contractor, adding that steps should be taken to end the stay order issues in the contractors favor.
PAC’s sub-committee met in Islamabad on Friday with Convener Shafqat Mahmood in the chair.
Director CDA Legal Wing told the committee that the contractor had obtained a second stay order from the High Court on June 1 after expiry of the first stay order in April. Hearing this, Shafqat Mahmood asked why the CDA failed to vacate land during the gap of two months.
Responding to the question, the director said that the CDA chairman had been informed in this regard but sought to resolve the issue with the contractor through dialogue, because of which his subordinates could not take action.
Shafqat Mahmood said the chairman of the authority was responsible for negligence.
The committee expressed displeasure over the disappearance of the contract record and asked secretary CADD to conduct an inquiry into the matter and register an FIR against the officials concerned.
