LAHORE – Education activities resumed across Punjab province today after the government and a religious party singed an agreement to end violent protests erupted since the supreme court acquitted a Christian woman of blasphemy charges.
“Schools will remain open in the province on Saturday as per routine,” a spokesperson for the Punjab school administration said adding, “Educational activities are to resume.”

However, a low turnout was observed in schools, which open after two-day break. New dates for the postponed exams will be declared soon by the authorities.
Meanwhile, educational institutes lso re-opened in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh and Balochistan.
Private and public educational institutions across the country had remained closed after the religious groups, mainly Tehreek-i-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP), took to streets against the acquittal of Asia Bibi, who was facing death sentence over blasphemy.
